eSignatures

Defining MVP scope through user research - SaaS Application

The Challenge

  • What the users already have: Familiarity with stand-alone eSigning tools.

  • Project goal: Integrating a signing function tailored to governance workflows, not duplicating existing solutions.

  • What makes it unique: Addressing the specific needs of board documents and differentiating between internal and external signing processes. This requires careful attention to the unique workflows and varying requirements of internal confirmation versus external document distribution.

My Role

  • User Research

  • Partner with the product manager to define the product requirements and priorities

  • Solution Design & prototype testing

  • Wireframing

  • Usability Testing

Results

  • Feature usage: from 17 Nov 2023 - 06 Mar 2024, 16.1% of all minutes confirmations had signature requests

  • Conversion: A 3% increase in conversion rate attributed to the inclusion of 'minutes signing' as a must-have feature when choosing a board management software.

My Process

I led user research to define the MVP scope, identifying which core features users absolutely needed in v1. Through iterative usability testing with 5 board secretaries and 1 Chair, we validated our feature prioritisation and prevented common launch failures. This research-informed approach reduced our initial scope by 20% while maintaining critical user workflows.
