Committees in UI V2
The Project
The BoardPro UI V2 introduced a revised information architecture (IA) compared to the previous version. In this new IA, the Committees page was moved under Organisation Settings. The product team wanted to test whether users could locate the Committees page easily, as it's essential to their navigation experience. Additionally, enabling board secretaries to efficiently add or purchase committees was a key goal, as this functionality directly impacts revenue.
My Role
Defined research objectives and planned the study
Recruited participants using data from LaunchDarkly and Intercom
Created prototypes for new IA ideas
Set up testing scenarios
Conducted usability testing and prototype validation
Synthesised findings and presented recommendations to the product team
Impact
Moving the Committees page to the main navigation helps board secretaries find and manage committees more efficiently.
Making it easier to add new committees helps board secretaries complete their tasks quickly, significantly increasing the software’s revenue through new committee purchases.
I conducted this research in the post-production phase by having participants interact with the live product using controlled scenarios. I then had them perform the same tasks using the prototypes I designed, allowing for direct comparison and validation of design improvements.

Participant Criteria
Roles: Administrators, Board Secretaries
Number of Participants: 5
Based in: New Zealand, Australia
Recruitment Process
We cross-referenced data from LaunchDarkly to identify users who have engaged with the new UI (up to January 16, 2025) and have recently added committees by using the newly released function (between September 24, 2024, to January 15, 2025). Selecting users from this group ensures that the participants have relevant experience with both the new UI and the committee feature.
